Throwback Thursday

Bringing it Back to '007

I'm linking up with Monica over at Monica's Notebook for Throwback Thursday. I'm bringing it back to 2007 when I was a senior in High School. I can't believe it has already been five years. Time is FLYING which brings me to cheerleading when I was a flyer. That's me down there being a sassy pants.

Back in High School cheerleading was my entire life. I would practice for two hours every day after school and then still come home and choreograph new material for our routine using my kitchen's sliding glass doors as mirrors.

My school notebooks were covered with dots, initials, and arrows which represented formations, each cheerleader's name, as well as our transitions.

I was a freak. But I loved it.

Cheerleading in my hometown was never a strong program but I worked my a-s-s off to make us better. No squad had ever (and I mean ever in the history of the competition) won first place from our school. Not a one. But at my last ever cheer competition back in 2007 as a senior in High School - WE DID!

I remember the day vividly.

I remember being so nervous I wanted to throw up. I remember telling myself that we were going to get 2nd place just so my hopes and dreams wouldn't be crushed when we actually did. I remember the 2mins and 30secs of the routine flying by in a blink of an eye. I remember being huddled in a circle with my squad during the awards ceremony and screaming until my lungs gave out when "and in first place...Trumansburg" was announced. I remember jumping up and down like a flailing lunatic while being the happiest little girl in the world. And then I remember stopping for just a moment, tilting my head up to the ceiling, closing my eyes, and saying "We did it. We finally did it."

As corny as it sounds that day will forever be one of the top ten days of my life.
