I'm so excited to introduce you all to the fabulous new blog design for Niki over at Glossy Blonde today!
I can without a doubt say that I jumped out of my desk chair, scratch that, couch cushion when I received her email hoping to work with me on creating a new design for her. I've always loved Niki's blog and thought she was the sweetest ever. And now that I've actually had the chance to work with her, I've confirmed those beliefs ten fold. She's the real deal, that glossy blonde.
She sent over her design questionnaire answers letting me know that she wanted an extremely clean and editorial feel to her new design. Tons of white space, using a variety of grey shades, and a few pops of her signature coral color here and there. Thus her inspiration board was born...
From there, I went ahead and put together her design board featuring the header, sidebar category widgets, social media buttons, signature, and ad button. I really tried to keep things super simple for her but still added in a bit of texture to the header in order to give it a bit more personality than your usual solid-colored typeface.
After this step in the process, it was on to the actual design mockup where I put everything in the place you'd normally see it on a blog site. This helps the client get an overall feel for exactly what the design will look like once it's installed. After a few minor tweaks, we were all set on a final design and it was off to the amazingly talented Lisette to install it using the Genesis framework on Wordpress.
And that brings us to the final design....
In addition to her actual blog design, Niki also wanted me to create her "About Me" page in order to give her entire site a uniform and cohesive look. I happily obliged since she basically read straight through to my heart by wanting a "collage type feel" and I got to work creating this:
So what do you think? Do you love it just as much as Niki and I do? I sure hope so! A big thank you to Niki for being one of my most favorite clients to work with, ever. I swear our brains were simply just attached throughout the entire process, it was that easy.
